FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER AND POVERTY IN NSTINGBEU
three months old table birds ready for consumption
A slow but sure and steady revolution has been underway among the resource limited rural committees in Ntsingbeu – Bafou in the Western region of Cameroon since 1979 when the poultry farm was created. Due to poor management and the bird flow disease, the project then came to rest. It has now taken a new trend since September 2009 with the production of over three thousand layers and two thousand five-hundred table birds.

Layers’ vaccination in preparation for egg production.
Indeed with hunger and poverty being the main causes of malnutrition in rural communities in Cameroon, the poultry farm whose “raison d’être” is to work hard to combat hunger, poverty and malnutrition due to limited consumption of protein, has come to remedy some of these health problems not only to the indigents of Ntsingbeu but to Cameroon as a whole. The objectives of the Poultry farm are to produce and sell at lower cost to the local population, provide employment for the youths, and hence ameliorate the living standard of the local population.
